| The United States is by and large a highly automobile-based society. Very few Americans get around by train, and most cities' infrastructures are centered around car transportation. The extent of America's dependence on the automobile is so great that, even in many of the largest US cities, it's nearly impossible for many (and maybe most) residents to buy groceries without driving a few miles. |
